Looking for a way to gain experience on a part time basis while building a resume and evaluating career fields? We offer a variety of internships that may be the right position for you and could lead to full time work after school. These include marketing, design, and coding.
Direct Online Marketing™ is a Google AdWords- and Microsoft Advertising-certified firm that specializes in search engine marketing, social media optimization, and online reputation management.
We’re looking for a bright, hardworking individual with skills and an interest in marketing, graphic design, or computer programming – or a combination of the three. Internships with part- or full-time hours (minimum of 15 hours per week) are available for both the spring semester and summer break in our new Wheeling, WV headquarters. This unpaid position will involve a variety of tasks related to your particular skill sets, courses of study, and interests for future employment.

Yes, It’s Real World Work
All internships offer the opportunity to do real work and gain experience to help you find future employment as well as gauge your interest in this field. You won’t be picking up dry cleaning or pushing brooms. Will there be tedious work? We promise there will! But, you’re also going to use your skills to create solutions that help our clients. You’ll leave with real world knowledge and tangible results you can put on your resume. We promise that, too.
Who You Are
To successfully apply for and excel in an internship, you will have at least:
- Outstanding computer skills and strong familiarity with the internet
- Organized and detail oriented
- Excellent written and verbal communication
Programmers will also need knowledge of a variety of programming languages, databases, etc. Designers will need a strong eye for design and in-depth understanding of how to use image manipulating software such as Adobe Creative Suite.
Past Interns
This internship is not for everyone. You’re expected to work hard and perform just like it were a regular career position. You may find that you love the work, you may find that you hate it, but either way you’ll have a clear idea about whether you want to continue to pursue a career in marketing, design, or programming.
Here’s what two recent interns had to say about the opportunity:
“I thoroughly enjoyed my internship experience at Direct Online Marketing. Justin Seibert gave me an opportunity to become more valuable in the marketplace. As a search marketing intern at DOM, I received hands on training along with instruction. I would recommend a DOM internship to anyone who is interested in learning the nuts and bolts of online marketing.” – Spring 2010
“The experience I gained in one summer at DOM taught me more about search marketing than the two years I spent working on my MBA. This internship is invaluable to anyone considering a career in online marketing or SEO. Those who are serious about getting their hands dirty will be rewarded with wonderful learning opportunities. In addition, Justin and his staff are a true pleasure to work for.” – Summer 2009
Past interns have come from the following schools:
- Akron University
- Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh
- Pittsburgh Technical Institute
- Smith College
- West Liberty University
- West Virginia University
- Wheeling Jesuit University
