Happy Holidays & an SEO Offer for Non Profits »
Posted on December 22nd, 2008 by Justin Seibert in DOM News, Google - SEO, SEO, Slightly Off-Topic | 1 Comment

As my esteemed Onion colleague Jim Anchower might start out, “Hola, amigos. I know it’s been a long time since I rapped at ya.” Things have been extra busy around here in wrapping up the year and setting out plans for our clients for 2009.
Consider this your early holiday smorgasbord because it’s not like you’re not already stuffing your face with goodies, saying “Oh it’s just the holidays; it doesn’t count.” Wait - you’re not saying that? It’s just me? Oh. Onward…

Poor Lois Feldman - The Speaker, Not the Bathroom Party Time Lady »
Posted on December 2nd, 2008 by Justin Seibert in Paid Search, SEM, SEO, Search Engine Reputation Management, Social Media, Web Credibility | Leave A Comment
By now you’ve probably heard the story about Lois Feldman. If not, here’s a quick recap:
Lois was arrested for doing her Humpty Hump (of Digital Underground fame) Burger King bathroom impression in the stall of a public bathroom at a college football game recently. That’s pretty embarrasing, especially in today’s internet age.
But you know what’s really embarrassing?

Tracking Site Page Importance Via Crawl Cache Dates »
Posted on November 24th, 2008 by Justin Seibert in DOM News, Google - SEO, SEO, Search Engines, The Marketing Experts | Leave A Comment
We’ve been thinking about how we can bring more value to our readers on this here internet marketing blog and settled on running an occasional series of guest posts penned by various marketing thought leaders. This remained filed in our Good Ideas We Feel Like We’re Too Busy to Implement drawer until now. What finally got me out of my hammock to implement this series was being featured in a post by Donna FontenotSEO Scoop as part of a series meant to spread some love and introduce the search engine marketing community to other and often newer voices.
DazzlinDonna as she is better known on the internets has been involved in this industry for quite some time and really knows her stuff. I am personally delighted to have Donna kick off our The Marketing Experts series and now present her post on a very specific way you can improve your own search engine optimization efforts (or stay on top of your SEO firm). — Justin
Over two years ago, way back in September, 2006, Google let us know that they were changing the way they display cache dates for our pages. Specifically, Vanessa Fox said:

Google Chicago: The Most Googly in All the Land »
Posted on November 20th, 2008 by Justin Seibert in DOM News, Google Adwords, PPC, Paid Search, Search Engine Reputation Management, Search Engines | 4 Comments
Earlier this week I visited Chicago and met up with our Google agency reps. Our reps are actually based out of California, but were in town at the same time for other matters, so it afforded us the opportunity to sit down face to face to discuss some new campaigns for a couple clients.

Because Google often dresses in a body suit woven with mystery, secrecy, and opaqueness, I thought I’d share what it’s like inside the Internet Giant, or at least its Windy City ops.

Thank You to Our Veterans »
Posted on November 11th, 2008 by Justin Seibert in Slightly Off-Topic | Leave A Comment
We try to stick on topic on our internet marketing blog, but this Veteran’s Day marks an exception.
Bob Coffield wrote a great post on his health care law blog today honoring his family that served in the military and all our veterans. I was so moved I wanted to share my appreciation here and allow this to serve as an open thread for anyone else that wants to share their thanks or memories of their loved ones. I apologize for being off topic.

Don’t know if you’re aware, but there’s some sort of election thing going on today. Apparently one of the things you can vote on is President of the United States of America, which sounds like an important post.
With that, let’s take a fairly extensive look into what the candidates are doing today in their paid search campaigns, shall we?

Healthcare Marketing Research & Survey Results »

On Halloween, we cited some Harris Interactive research regarding how consumers like to find answers to their healthcare questions. We also asked you “What are the most used online resources to gather information on a health question / concern?” Probably a bit of a misleading question since some people answered what they used while others answered what they thought most people used.
Either way, the results of the survey and the actual data from HI after the jump.

How do People Find Answers to Health Related Questions? »
Posted on October 31st, 2008 by Justin Seibert in Healthcare Marketing, Online Marketing, Search Engines, Web Credibility | 16 Comments

One of my favorite sitcom lines was from Roseanne, circa 1992. Darlene’s uncle brings a vcr and she says with incredibly dry delivery, “Alright, the Connor Conner family leaps into the 80’s.” That’s kind of how I feel today about the newest feature for the Direct Online Maketing: polls.
Recently, we came across some really interesting research regarding how consumers look for answers to their healthcare related questions and issues. The answers may surprise you. They did me.

One of my former hockey teammates from Vanderbilt also ended up in the internet marketing realm. Today, Jotham McCauley sent me something I found too funny. By the way, if you’re looking for bubble hockey games or anything related to stand up arcade games like foosball, for now, for your customer’s sake, for your daughter’s sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from Gold Star Games.
Here’s your Highlights exercise for the day. Tell me what’s wrong with this picture (after the jump).

ALT - Not Knowing these 3 Letters could Cost You $6 Million »
Posted on August 29th, 2008 by Justin Seibert in E-commerce, Government Marketing, Internet, SEO, Web Development | 2 Comments
I’m a frugal person. I used to say cheap, but I know a business owner who reuses his own dental floss - now that’s cheap and probably unsanitary. So when I see a company pay a $6 million settlement for not knowing - or caring - about the most basic of search engine optimization (SEO) functions, I choke on my Cap’n Crunch.
The target company who raised the ire of the plaintiff in this case?
