If there’s one thing you Americans have mastered, it’s the art of convenience.
From drive thru anything (banks have always been a particular favorite) to video on demand, if there’s a way to make something less difficult and more convenient, you’ll nail it.
Although there has to be an inversely proportional correlation between the amount of energy expended in creating or developing said ‘conveniences’ and using them. After all, one man’s convenience is another man’s stone cold bone idle laziness.

Yup, that’s what I’m talking about.

You’ll be pleased to know I’ve just passed the longest period of uninterrupted home Internet access with the illustrious Comcast. More or less ever since I moved into my apartment last June I’d lose service for unconscionably long periods. And thus the saga continues……..
There are two types of people in this world – those who love what they do and those who just do it for the money. Yes, we all need a dollar or two to keep the wolf from the door, but not all of us need to be the wolf at the door.
In all walks of life at various stages and ages you’ll get those who will go an extra yard and those who know exactly how many yards they’re willing to go and will go no more.
Now I’ll admit that we can’t all do what we love – maybe your work affords you that luxury. But, I honestly won’t forgive corporations for not employing people who love what they do or develop an environment for their workforce to love what they do.

Finally, after nearly two weeks of waiting rather impatiently, we had the cable chap round to do his installation thing round at our place. But, it obviously wasn’t without a modicum of incident.
I fondly bid my adorable lady adieu yesterday morning safe in the knowledge that she knew to make sure that the back computer room was to be hooked up and that the tv had to have enough cable so we could plop our big telly against the long wall so as to reduce window glare. Continue reading →
