Anchor Text

The clickable words of a hypertext link; they will appear as the underlined blue part in standard Web design. In the preceding sentence, “hypertext link” is the anchor text. As with anything in SEO, it can be overdone, but generally speaking, using your important keywords in the anchor text is highly desirable, as it gives search engines a better understanding of the context of your pages. A hyperlink without anchor text is called a naked link, which does not carry the same value as a properly anchored link.
