We do a fair bit of speaking about internet marketing topics – sometimes at search engine marketing or other advertising industry conferences, but even more often to conferences and meetings outside this realm. Given that, I thought it might be worthwhile to show some samples. Here’s one fairly representative clip from ATD’s annual conference earlier this year (where I received the highest workshop rating of the event).
All the attendees were from one vertical (in this case, trucking) and I tailored my presentation based on a discussion with the event organizers. Although not for ATD, when possible, I’ll also send out an email survey to attendees ahead of time and make further refinements based on their backgrounds and wants.
This particular presentation was a general overview of internet marketing and the different types we had found to be effective for truck dealers. Although a larger room, I kept my preferred style of asking, encouraging, and answering questions throughout to keep it interactive. Towards the end, I took volunteers and did live SEO / conversion audits of sites. These audits (including social media efforts) are the most popular portions of any presentation, so we try to work them whenever we can.
This clip shows how this volunteer can spy on good-ranking competitors to see what keywords they’re targeting.
Currently, there’s another clip from this presentation up on our YouTube channel as well as some other educational materials. It will contain more from this conference and others in the future. If you have suggestions for anything you’d like discussed, let us know!
