Today marks our annual reminder to pay special tribute to the brave men and women who have protected our country. As trite as it may sound, freedom isn’t free. The only reason you and I get to do as we please at work and at home is because of our veterans who have defended America.
After discussing with everyone here, we’ve decided to help support two great organizations this year in honor of Veterans Day:
-
- Honor Flight. Leland suggested this organization; they fly veterans to Washington, DC to visit memorials built to their service. They’re tremendously efficient with their resources. While they help veterans from all wars, preference is given to senior vets. As they mention on their website, “an estimated 640 WWII veterans die each day. Our time to express our thanks to these brave men and women is running out.” Donate or learn more on their website.
-
- Wreaths Across America. We once again are donating wreaths for our soldiers’ graves, as originally suggested by Stephanie. This year we will also be laying wreaths on December 12th in Wellsburg, WV. Donate or learn more on their website.
And if you haven’t already, please be sure to thank the veterans you know today. A pretty good idea tomorrow (and the next day…), too.
